I found huge thing for SMM managers and content creators. It can optimize your time working with social media by 100%.
Most AI content agents stop at the absolute worst moment:
"Here is your draft."
Then the manual grind begins. You copy the text, open X, fix the formatting, upload the images, schedule the time, and repeat it for LinkedIn or Threads. You’re either burning time on manual clicks or paying for another SaaS subscription like Buffer or Hootsuite just to bridge the gap.
I recently found an open-source project called Postiz (by Gitroom) that solves this exact "last mile" problem.
It’s a self-hosted, programmable social media scheduling and publishing architecture.
The real power here isn't just having another social dashboard - it’s what happens when you plug it directly into your AI agent pipelines via their API:
-> End-to-End Automation: Your agent researches a topic, generates the drafts, and handles the multi-platform formatting.
-> Human-in-the-Loop Approval: You review the curated queue in a single dashboard.
-> Automated Distribution: Once approved, Postiz handles the native publishing, asset rendering, and scheduling.
This is exactly what mature AI content infrastructure should look like. The goal isn’t just to generate content at scale; the goal is to ship it without the operational friction.
If you're tired of being the manual middleman between your LLM outputs and your social channels, look into building a proper publishing pipeline.

F*cking Beautiful.....
Postiz Github setup locally with my Video Intelligence system.
Herme's @NousResearch is my Zero Human Company.
With my social agent that now is agent integrated with my internal clip software (over 3,000 clips fully enriched) and uses my own custom hook and copy system.
and now.....
Can completely automate, schedule and report on the A/B all the way to Z tests being done.
Everything goes into Trial Reels first to prove out combinations before then going to main.
@wickedguro well done.... can't wait to run this.
Hermes is now integrating the MCP tools right now and then I'm going to test out the first real run.
What a day and age we live in.
twitter.com/taikikanzaki/status/20906228…
Buffer charges $30/month for 5 channels.
Hootsuite starts at $99/month.
Both are social media schedulers. Both are vendor subscriptions that sit between your content and your audience.
Postiz is an open-source alternative. 29.1K GitHub stars.
Setup is Docker Compose on any $5 VPS. Your scheduling data and content library stay on your own infrastructure.
What Postiz does:
→ Schedules posts across 20+ social media platforms from one interface
→ AI-powered content generation and post suggestions built in
→ Analytics dashboard with per-post engagement metrics
→ Team collaboration with approval workflows and role-based access
→ Media asset library with drag-and-drop scheduling calendar
→ RSS feed integration for sourcing and scheduling content
→ Calendar view for content planning across platforms
Why we run it self-hosted:
At Graplify we manage multiple brand accounts across multiple platforms. Paying per channel or per seat compounds fast. Self-hosting Postiz gives our team full access, unlimited channels, and approval workflows, for the cost of a $5 VPS.
The approval workflow is the piece that matters for team operations. Drafts sit in review. Approvals push to schedule. No external SaaS login required for the whole team.
Self-hosted cost: $0.
Buffer: $30/month.
Hootsuite: $99/month.
Postiz: free on your own server.
AGPL-3.0 licensed.
very close to completing the yapwriter flow.
I just hosted postiz(open source social media management) on railway. It has an API I can connect to yapwriter to schedule and post for you.
Also has a dashboard where you can see posts and analytics.
Thanks to the open source geniuses who created @getpostiz and the genius who added a @Railway pack.
Now once I can get the various social media apps settled, I can complete the yapwriter flow
braindump,
choose raw/AI mode,
human review of generated text(if you want),
generate other posts,
human review of generated posts(if you want),
post
It has support for about 18 social media platforms and it's easy to add more
@PashaBorsai @superx_so @TellaHQ @capcutapp @claudeai @figma Use Postiz self-hosted, $49 less to pay 😉
@peturgeorgievv @SimonHoiberg Look at Postiz though. Same category as FeedHive, open source, yet does 175k MRR
I self host Postiz but I'd be fine paying so I don't need to manage it
🌟 Exciting news! 🚀 I've just started using Postiz, a fantastic new tool for scheduling my social media content!
Why did I choose Postiz? The ability to self-host it means significant savings for me! 💰

Hot take: self-hosting your social media scheduler is worth it. Every API key lives on YOUR server. No monthly SaaS fee ($0/mo). You control the data. Postiz makes this possible — here's my setup: dev.to/aryaniyaps/how-i-self-hosted-post…
Alternatively you can deploy Postiz open-source on your cloud for free... from Docker image
💸
Buffer vs Postiz
SWITCH for most solo and small-team scheduling. ~74% parity on the board. AGPL, self-host, ships weekly. Credit @wickedguro
Agencies with heavy SLA and partner support may still want Buffer.
brandonsays.com
@oliverhenry Hook it up with the Postiz OPEN SOURCE version (one-click deployment if you use Coolify) and boom, you've got yourself an almost free setup (except the OpenAI image generation costs, but that's negligible)
from 7.5K to 2.2K daily clicks is obviously not a great trend, but I wouldn't immediately conclude that SEO is dead
Competition is a pretty obvious variable here too.
Social media schedulers have become ridiculously crowded. I'm seeing tons of social media schedulers getting launched everyday solving the same problem, and the basic feature set has become commoditized.
If you're just another scheduler without a strong wedge, of course organic acquisition is going to get harder.
Postiz by @wickedguro is a good counter example. Instead of building another Buffer clone, he went after open source/self-hosting, 30+ channels, APIs/CLI/MCP, automation, etc. That's an actual product wedge in the current market.
so SEO isn't necessarily dead.
Building a generic SaaS, write 500 articles, wait for Google.. is probably a much worse strategy than it used to be.
Killed 2 subscriptions today - Canva and Post-bridge.
Self-hosted Postiz now across all brands.
Every "best Twitter tools" list is the same paid stack: Buffer at $99 a month, Hypefury at $49, Tweet Hunter, Typefully, on and on. Nobody tells you developers already rebuilt most of it and put it on GitHub for free.
Here are 6 open-source tools that replace the subscriptions, ranked by how ready they are to use today.
1. Postiz — t.co/2V0xU7tyzH
The heavyweight. 30.4k stars, self-hosted, and it names its targets directly in the README: an alternative to Buffer, Hypefury, and Tweet Hunter. Schedule to X plus 10+ networks, AI writing features, analytics, team collaboration, and a full public API for N8N/Make/Zapier automation. It uses official platform-approved OAuth, not scraping, so you're not risking your account. This is the one to install first. AGPL-3.0.
2. Postit — t.co/jnCHyGSD5r
The AI-native pick. An open-source scheduler with an AI copilot that drafts in your brand voice, native publishing to 12 networks, and the part that matters in 2026: a built-in MCP server. That means Claude, Cursor, or ChatGPT can draft, schedule, and publish for you directly. Self-host it or use their cloud. AGPL-3.0.
3. Bluewing — t.co/Yt3rneFncc
The clean, focused one. Schedule to X, LinkedIn, and Bluesky from a single interface, with per-platform content overrides so the same idea gets tuned for each network. Multiple accounts, a month calendar view, queue-based background publishing. No AI bloat, just reliable scheduling. Open source.
4. Post4U — t.co/7JFq2IRIqG (Arjun Nambiar)
The MIT-licensed minimalist. Cross-post and schedule to X, Reddit, Telegram, and Discord from one place, built with FastAPI. Privacy-focused, no tracking, Docker-ready. Small and early, but MIT means you can fork it and do whatever you want. MIT License.
5. social_post — t.co/SFvsAsFSIo
The solo-operator build. A single-user, self-hosted scheduler for X and LinkedIn, built on Next.js and Convex, made explicitly to replace expensive subscription services. If you run one account and just want your posts to go out on time without paying anyone, this is the leanest path.
6. SimplyTweeted — t.co/j0XrrWkR7v
The X-native scheduler. Clean interface, OAuth login, encrypted token storage, and support for posting to Communities. Worth knowing its real limit up front: the free X API tier caps you around 17 scheduled posts per 24 hours. That's an X restriction, not the tool's, and it hits every free scheduler on this list.
One honest note: Postiz is the only mature project here. The rest range from solid to early-stage. That's the tradeoff of the open side. You trade a polished dashboard for owning your data, your keys, and your workflow, with no monthly bill and no account that gets held hostage.
The paid tools all rent you the same features on the same platform every competitor already uses. These hand you the source and walk away.
Save this. Start with Postiz.
@SamuelBeek if you'd like to self host postiz is pretty cool imo
✨I replaced all these SaaS with self-hosted/open source apps, mostly running on a ~$100 mini PC with 105 Docker containers:
- Google Photos -> My own self-hosted Immich server (avoids ~$10/mo)
- Dropbox / Google Drive -> My own Nextcloud (avoids ~$10-20/mo)
- 1Password / Bitwarden Cloud -> My own Vaultwarden (avoids ~$3-8/mo)
- Zapier / Make -> My own n8n automation server (avoids ~$20-50/mo)
- Calendly -> My own t.co/LBHTMVAtNJ (avoids ~$10/mo)
- Google Analytics / paid analytics -> My own Plausible + Umami
- Pocket / Raindrop -> My own Karakeep
- YNAB / Monarch -> My own Maybe Finance (avoids ~$10-15/mo)
- DocuSign -> My own DocuSeal (avoids ~$15+/mo)
- Jira / Linear -> My own Plane (avoids ~$10+/mo)
- HubSpot CRM -> My own Twenty CRM (avoids ~$15+/mo)
- Buffer / Hootsuite -> My own Postiz social media scheduler (avoids ~$20+/mo)
- GitHub for private infrastructure -> My own Gitea
- Figma -> My own Penpot (avoids ~$15+/mo)
- Evernote / Notion for quick notes -> My own Memos
- document storage/scanning -> My own Paperless-ngx
- server monitoring -> My own Beszel
- push notifications -> My own ntfy
- Plex -> My own Jellyfin
- audiobook server -> My own Audiobookshelf
- smart home cloud -> My own Home Assistant
- location history -> My own Dawarich
- personal health/fitness tracking -> My own SparkyFitness
And I have a second mini PC just for development where I run code-server, my projects, MCP servers and AI coding agents.
I think I've reached the point where there are some things I still don't want to replace because self-hosting them would be stupid for me:
- Cloudflare for DNS, tunnels and edge infrastructure
- Email delivery
- Off-site backups
- Cloud object storage when I actually need it
- LLM APIs / model providers
- My own GPU cluster
The crazy part is I probably wouldn't have done half of this a few years ago.
AI agents changed the economics of self-hosting.
Installing, configuring, debugging, updating and connecting all this used to cost more in my time than the SaaS subscription.
Now I can have agents help operate the infrastructure too.
I killed 3 monthly subscriptions this week. swapped all of them for free, self-hosted tools I actually run.
1. Home Assistant. Your whole smart home, running locally, no cloud fee. if you own the devices, nothing here phones home and nothing stops working when the internet does. t.co/Jzrn7Fi51M
2. Activepieces. Zapier without the per-task bill. same flow-builder feel, agent native, self-hosted. Replaced the n8n who keep prompting me to pay. t.co/oEH18iqm8g
3. Postiz. Schedule to 28+ channels from one dashboard, minus Buffer/Hootsuite. it's what I run my own posting on now. t.co/95f12yQgRf
each one replaced a bill I was tired of paying. which subscription should I kill next? reply it and I'll test it.
I tested 142 open-source repos so far. Follow to support please!
@TaskmasterRob Docker + Postgres + Redis.
Uzmet aci Postiz.
A few months ago I built an iOS wrapper around Post Bridge but didn’t do much with it (I didn’t want to pay the monthly sub).
But now that I have a locally hosted Postiz instance, I had my agents repurpose the code to post using it and it just works.
Hot take:
Code was never the advantage. Open source proved that years before AI did.
Postiz is the proof. Fully open source, free to self-host, and still hit 2M ARR. Everyone could clone it and nobody did.
Execution was always the product. AI just made that obvious to everyone at once.
I think in a super crowded SaaS market open-source with self-hosting becomes a true differentiator for B2B
Posthog, Postiz are a perfect example twitter.com/wickedguro/status/2082467432…
@gregisenberg Yes, it's excellent, so I recently updated my Postiz Railway template if anyone wants to self-host it with one-click deployment, here you go.

Postiz

I've installed something called Postiz on my server, its basically Buffer but free and open-source.
Could be a really powerful tool for small content creators to have a cost-effective scheduling solution, excited to try it out!
I agree but think it's good for Google or ai search or people wanting to go deep. I'd say it depends on if it's a little side project or a serious app you intend to scale.
You can run something like postiz (open source) on a VM with Hermes and have it take your work on the app and posts and help you automate some brand content so you at least have a home for your serious apps on X, without committing to some major new profile to manage.
@wickedguro @desunit @levelsio i just run Postiz open source on my windows PC with just 2 accounts
if i need more, i'd happily pay though :)
